Orogourmet is certified as a “Kosher" product by the British “Federation of Synagogues”.
Gold and silver used as food are regulated as Colouring Food Additives, specifically:
Gold: E-175
Silver: E-174
According to Royal Decree 1111/1991 (Royal Decree which modifies the technical-sanitary regulation of food additives) a Food Additive is considered to be: “any substance which, is not normally consumed as a food in itself, nor used as a characteristic in food, independently of whether it has nutritive value or not, and whose intentioned additions to food products, with a technological proposal in manufacturing, transformation, preparation, treatment, packaging, transport or storage has, or can reasonably expect to, directly or indirectly, give the result that the additive itself or its sub-products have become a component of these food products”.
According to Royal Decree 3177/1983 (Royal Decree which approves the technical-sanitary regulation of food additives) a Colouring Food Additive is considered to be: “a substance which provides, strengthens or varies the colour of food products”.
According to what appears in Royal Decree 2001/1995 (Royal Decree which approves the positive list of colouring additives authorised for their use in making food products, as well as their conditions for use) on colourings to sell to final consumers all included in Annexe I, the list says:
“Gold E 175, Silver E 174”
